Alert! Wild Tigers Monitored Circulating In West Sumatra Solok Settlements
SOLOK - A Sumatran tiger (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae) was caught on CCTV surveillance cameras roaming the yard of Alisma Alius Lubuk Selasih Mosque, Nagari Batang Barus, Gunung Talang District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra.
Head of the West Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) Lugi Hartanto, confirmed that his party had indeed received a report regarding a Sumatran tiger roaming the Alisma Alius Mosque yard and was caught on CCTV last Thursday at around 02.00 WIB in the morning.
After receiving the report, the West Sumatra KSDA Balai team together with the nagari team immediately went to the scene to carry out mitigation efforts and educate the public to calm down.
The team made efforts to transport animals to their habitats which were directly adjacent to forest areas. This is done so that people are calm and there are no casualties from both the human and animal parties.
In addition, the BKSDA team also coordinated with the Gunung Talang Police, Polres, Bhabinsa and the nagari government to help carry out the escort.
"Until last night the joint team was still investigating together," Lugi said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 31.
He admitted that the team in the field did not see the figure of the tiger firsthand. However, judging from the CCTV footage, it can be analyzed where the movement is going.
So that the team starting from yesterday morning until now is very intense in anticipating the presence of the tiger by firing the carbit cannon so that the animals no longer approach the area and educating the public to remain vigilant in their activities.
