Bata Shoe Manufacturer Denies Bankruptcy: PKPU's Request From Agus Setiawan Is Baseless
JAKARTA - Footwear manufacturer PT Sepatu Bata Tbk. Through his legal representative, Theodorus Warlando, stated that the company is currently in a good condition and is not bothered by the lawsuit filed by external parties against the company.
"The company always meets and complies with all applicable legal provisions," he said in an official statement, Friday, March 12.
Theodorus considered that the lawsuit filed against Bata was a wrong legal step after studying the claims filed by the petitioner.
"The request for PKPU (postponement of debt payment obligations) is baseless," he said.
In fact, he said that until now Bata had not officially received a summons related to the PKPU petition case filed against the company.
Furthermore, his party will continue to strive to defend the company's rights so that they are properly maintained.
"The trial process that will be undertaken will not affect the company's business activities. The company will continue to carry out its business activities as usual," he said.
As previously reported, Bata was sued for postponing its debt payment obligation (PKPU) or for bankruptcy at the Commercial Court at the Central Jakarta District Court.
Citing the Central Jakarta District Court's case tracking information system, the petitioner Agus Setiawan was registered with the classification of the case for postponement of debt payment obligations (PKPU) numbered 114 / Pdt.Sus-PKPU / 2021 / PN Jkt.Pst.
Meanwhile, the lawsuit filed by Agus Setiawan was registered on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. He has appointed Hasiholan Tytusano Parulian as the applicant's attorney.
In one of the petitum points, namely, the petitioner asked the Central Jakarta District Court to accept and grant the PKPU request in its entirety.
"State the PKPU defendant PT Sepatu Bata Tbk in a temporary PKPU for 45 days from the time the verdict was pronounced," wrote the lawsuit on the official website of the Central Jakarta District Court, quoted by VOI, Wednesday, March 10.
