DPR Member Mardani Ali Sera Questions PMN Jiwasraya, Pushes The Special Committee Again
JAKARTA - Member of Commission II of the House of Representatives, Mardani Ali Sera, is again questioning the state capital investment (PMN) injection of IDR 20 trillion in stages for PT Jiwasraya.
For Mardani, serious handling is needed so that the public and the financial industry are not harmed. Due to the uncertainty of the Jiwasraya case, the PKS politician considered that he could affect the financial industry and the national economy.
"Public money, taxes paid by the public are actually used to replace money lost because it was stolen by those who commit corruption," Mardani said in his statement in Jakarta, Friday, March 12.
According to him, financial crime and public asset management practices must be made transparent. The problems that have occurred with Asabri and Jiwasraya should also serve as a reflection of poor investment management in Indonesia.
"That is why the PKS faction in the DPR has urged the special committee to uncover the case fairly. The spirit of the proposal for the formation of a special committee is that the case is clear, transparent, and can be resolved more quickly," he said.
Mardani reminded that economic development and investment efforts should not sacrifice efforts to eradicate corruption. On the other hand, efforts to eradicate corruption should not serve these interests, but economic interests must have an anti-corruption spirit.
Therefore, according to Mardani, the PKS faction of the DPR proposed the formation of a Jiwasraya Special Committee to the DPR leadership on February 2, 2020. However, until now there has been no follow-up.
According to him, the formation of the Jiwasraya Special Committee has become a cross-faction decision. However, it has been more than a year since a special committee has been proposed, the people have not received legal certainty.
"The chairman of the DPR had touched on this case at the opening of the IV session. Hopefully there will be a bright spot soon," said Mardani.
