Hutama Karya Speeds Up The Settlement Of Three Rest Area Projects On The Trans Sumatra Toll Road

PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) is completing the construction of three Rest and Service Projects (TIP) or rest areas on the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS).

The three rest areas are on the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road, TIP Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road and TIP Bengkulu-Taba Penjung Toll Road. Accumulated, the progress of the work on these three rests has reached 90 percent.

It is known that HKI has worked on 10 TIP points on the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road since March 2023, where there are five rest areas built on the side of A and five rest areas built on the side of B. As of April 2024, the overall progress of the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll TIP has reached 90.9 percent.

"Currently, the HKI is completing the vehicle lane and architectural work with a design that adapts the feel of the roof pattern of Selembayung," said HKI President Director Aji Prasetyanti as quoted from Hutama Karya's official website, Wednesday, May 29.

On the Binjai-Pangkalan Brandan Toll Road, the HKI worked on two rest areas whose progress has now reached 97.6 percent.

This rest area is expected to be completed by the end of May 2024, which now still leaves minor work. Accompaniment of local culture with the ornament of the typical Malay patterned fasad, this rest area is also expected to be a means of cultural education as well as a place to interact between toll users and the tenants of MSMEs in North Sumatra.

Meanwhile, on the Bengkulu-Taba Penjung Toll Road, the progress of the construction of two rest areas has reached 83.20 percent, which leaves architectural and landscape work with a completion target in June 2024.

"TIP of the Bengkulu-Taba Tanjung Toll Road carries the architecture of the nuanced Bumi Raflesia, by embedding the motifs of Tabot and the Raflesia Flower ornament on the architecture and motifs of the Malay Bees in the plot design," he said.

In terms of facilities, there are two types of TIP carried out by HKI. In general, both TIP type A and B will have the same supporting facilities in the form of public toilets and toilets with complete disabilities with ramps and rail disabilities, mosques, pujasera, MSME stands and minimarkets.

The difference between Type A and Type B TIP lies in the availability of land for public refueling stations (SPBU) and the capacity of parking facilities.

"At TIP type A, there will be land for gas stations with parking facilities containing 50 large vehicles and 200 small vehicles. Meanwhile, for Type B TIP, the parking facilities capacity is smaller, namely 25 large vehicles and 200 small vehicles and there is no land for gas stations," he said.

According to Aji, the existence of TIP in the three JTTS toll roads will provide considerable benefits. From an economic perspective, a total of three TIPs can accommodate 319 tenants with more than 50 percent tenants for MSMEs.

Meanwhile, in terms of community empowerment, this TIP will also open up opportunities for new jobs, especially for local residents to be involved in the daily TIP operations.

"We hope that the construction of these three TIP work packages can be completed on time so that it can be used according to the predetermined schedule. Thus, people crossing JTTS can use rest area facilities. So, making the trip safer and more comfortable," he concluded.
