Strengthening Sharia Economics, Bank Indonesia And The Ministry Of Religion Form Halal Center

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) together with the Ministry of Religion and universities in the Sumatra region have formed Halal Centers in 6 regions in Sumatra, namely in the Provinces of the Riau Islands (Kepri), North Sumatra, Aceh, Lampung, Bangka Belitung, and Lhokseumawe City.

The establishment of this Halal Center is in order to continue to strengthen the synergy of Islamic economic and financial development (expert) in encouraging inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Meanwhile, the establishment of the Halal Center has succeeded in facilitating the issuance of halal certification to 6,317 MSMEs throughout Sumatra, helping the halal product ecosystem in the Sumatra region develop more optimally.

Deputy Governor of BI, Doni P Joewono emphasized the importance of a sustainable sharia economic development program to answer ex-yielding challenges in the global realm.

"The Indonesian sharia economy also continues to grow and occupy important positions in the global ecosystem, marked by Indonesia's ranking in the 3rd position in the world based on the State of the Global Islamic Economy Indicator (SGIE) 2023, or up one rank compared to the previous year," he explained in his statement, Tuesday, May 28.

Doni also conveyed various other ex-system program initiatives that have been implemented in Sumatra, namely the Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2024.

In addition, Doni conveyed that digitalization and synergy support was also being carried out, including the expansion of the use of digital payment instruments (QRIS) for Islamic financial transactions.

On the same occasion, Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad expressed the appreciation and commitment of the Riau Islands Regional Government which continues to strive to encourage the strengthening of the national ex-year.

According to Ansar, various initiatives have been carried out, including providing margin subsidies for MSME financing, training and support for halal IKM food sterilization equipment, assistance through packaged clinics, halal certification programs.

"As well as sharia business incubation through the pesantren independence program that has been formed by the Islamic Boarding School Economic Association (HEBITREN) which is a forum for economic collaboration between Islamic boarding schools in Riau Islands," he said.
