UN Secretary General: This Horror Must Be Stopped
JAKARTA - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Israel's attack on refugee camps in the city of Rafah, Gaza. "I condemn Israel's actions that killed dozens of innocent civilians who were only seeking protection from this deadly conflict," Guterres said on X's social media account Monday (27/5) quoted by ANTARA from Sputnik-OANA.
"This tragedy must be stopped," he added in a post on Instagram. He said there was no safe place in Gaza, and asked for an end to the horror. Israel attacked a camp in northeastern Rafah on Sunday (26/5). The Palestinian civil defense service said at least 40 people were killed and dozens injured. On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the airstrikes in the refugee camp a tragic incident, adding investigations into the incident were ongoing.
