2 Victims Of The Arfak Mountains Landslide Found, A Total Of 4 People Died
The joint team found two missing victims after the landslide that hit Arfak Mountains Regency, West Papua Province on Monday, 15.00 WIB. Now, the total number of victims found dead is buried by landslides as many as 4 people.
Head of BNPB Disaster Data and Communication Center Abdul Muhari explained that the two landslide victims were found in Konyambouw District by a joint team consisting of Basarnas, TNI-Polri, BPBD and other agencies.
"The search process was carried out with heavy excavators at the landslide location. Thus, a total of four victims died as a result of this incident," said Abdul Muhari in his statement, Tuesday, May 28.
Meanwhile, it was also reported that one person was found safe. The joint team immediately evacuated and took the survivors to Warmare Hospital for further treatment.
"The search operation has also been stopped considering all victims have been found," he explained.
However, the joint team is still at the location to make efforts to accelerate handling and anticipate the potential for further landslides after the hydrometeorological disaster that occurred on Sunday, May 26.
Based on the weather forecast of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in the next two days, the Arfak Mountains Regency still has the potential to rain with light intensity.

Responding to this, Abdul Muhari appealed to all policy makers in the regions with the community to anticipate and increase preparedness in the event of significant weather changes.
"If there is heavy rain to reduced visibility from 100 meters in a duration of more than three hours, it is hoped that people will flee to safer places, especially those living on cliff slopes and riverbanks," he added.
