The Smuggling Of Dozens Of Ballpress Sacks From Malaysia Was Thwarted By Lanal Nunukan
NUNUKAN - The Second Fleet Quick Response Team (SFQR) of the Indonesian Navy Base (LANAL) Nunukan, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) secured 42 sacks containing used clothes (ballpress) and 8 sacks containing shoes with various brands from Tawau, Malaysia. The goods were about to be smuggled through the rat lane to Nunukan.
Danlanal Nunukan, Marine Lieutenant Colonel (P) Handoyo said his party thwarted the smuggling on Saturday, May 25.
"At that time the team carried out routine patrols as a step to maintain marine security stability in the Nunukan Regency and supervision and prosecution of illegal activities in Nunukan waters," said Handoyo, Monday, May 27.
The team then carried out inspections of wooden ships carrying basic necessities daily to meet the needs of Nunukan.
"When examined, dozens of sacks of suspicious items were found, which turned out to be used clothes and used shoes," he said.
Handoyo emphasized that the smuggling of ballpresses was a form of violation. President Jokowi is said to have ordered to eradicate imports of used clothes in Indonesia.
"We will immediately submit this evidence to Nunukan Customs for further processing," he concluded.
