Tourism Bus Accident Often Occurs, Sandiaga Uno Gives This Response
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has also highlighted the tourist bus accidents that have occurred repeatedly in recent times.
Sandiaga said that his party had collaborated with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to provide guidance for the Otobus Company (PO) so as not to make negligence when carrying out its duties.
As is known, a number of deadly accidents occurred involving tourism buses. The most highlighted deadly accident was a group of schools from Depok which resulted in the death of dozens of people in Ciater, Subang, West Java.
"Now we have collaborated directly with the Ministry of Transportation and we will start to be more assertive in providing a guide so that (death accident) does not happen again," Sandiaga said at The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno in Jakarta, Monday, May 27.
Sandiaga said the guide in question was how the vehicle used by the autobus company and the quality of the human resources driving the bus.
"(Guidelines) how the vehicle used is capable and also human resources driving this is also reliable and excellent," he said.
Later, said Sandiaga, if PO is found to have committed a violation of this, strict sanctions will immediately be given. "There are preventive measures. Not only control at the beginning, but also in a sustainable manner," he said.

The hope, he continued, is that this will change the mind of all study tour actors to further increase their supervision.
"Hopefully, this will change the mindset of all the students of the study tour. Starting from teachers, parents, to jointly monitor the selection of vehicles and drivers, it is certain that they are in top condition," he added.
For your information, there are at least five cases of bus accidents for student study groups in the last two weeks in May 2024.
