NASA Committed To Using AI Responsiblely

JAKARTA The need for Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to increase, even becoming a trend, this year. Almost all companies and institutions use this technology, including NASA. NASA's administrator Bill Nelson said that NASA is developing several transformative discoveries with the help of AI. However, the development of this technology may experience problems due to some risks. "There are many risks with (using) AI," Nelson said some time ago, quoted from Space. "If it is used in a way that is not beneficial to mankind, then it could be catastrophic." Apart from the risk, Nelson explained that the role of AI is indeed very important. Therefore, the use of AI must be accompanied by an appropriate approach so that AI can help the entire NASA work. "That can only be achieved if we make an approach to these new tools in the right way, with the same pillars that have defined us from the start: safety, transparency, and reliability," said Nelson. Meanwhile, David Salvagni as the first AI chief at NASA said that all workers in the institution would have the opportunity to study AI. This is a training initiative with the theme of the heat of AI. This training demonstrates NASA's seriousness in using AI responsibly. Salvagnini also said that the use of technology responsibly will begin with human mindset as the center. "(AI) is a resource that I can now access and can assist me in the decision-making process, "explained Salvagnini. "AI is not responsible for the result. It is humans responsible, humans are responsible."
