KPK Leader Waits For Prosecutor's Report After Gazalba Saleh Escapes From Money Laundering Indictment

JAKARTA - The interim chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pomolango did not want to talk much about the passing of Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh from the charges of money laundering (TPPU). He said he was still waiting for a report from the Public Prosecutor (JPU) to the KPK.

"We are still waiting for the prosecutor's friends to report," Nawawi said when confirmed by reporters, Monday, May 27.

"From the results of this report, further review of the attitude of the institution," said Nawawi. The leadership is certain to be sitting together.

"Furthermore, we will examine it together to determine the attitude of the decision of the panel of judges," he said.

As previously reported, the Jakarta Corruption Court ordered the KPK to release Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh in a trial held today, Monday, May 27. This order came after the exception submitted was granted.

"To try, one, grant a note of objection from the legal advisory team of the defendant Gazalba Saleh," said Panel of Judges Fahzal Hendri.

This exception was decided because the judge assessed that the prosecutor at the KPK had not yet received an appointment from the Attorney General. Thus, the indictment submitted cannot be accepted.

Gazalba is also known to have been released from the entanglement of accepting bribery in case management at the Supreme Court (MA) worth 110 thousand Singapore dollars. At that time, the indictment against him was not proven by the Bandung Corruption Court.
