Egypt Rejects Israel's Plan To Move Gazans To Sinai

JAKARTA - Egypt has again voiced its rejection of Israel's plan to move Gazans to Sinai.

"Egypt firmly rejects Israel's plan to relocate Gazans to Sinai," reports Egyptian news channel Al-Qahera, citing top Egyptian officials reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Thursday, May 23.

Egypt insists it will not allow Israel's ambitions to materialize in the Palestinian territories, at the expense of the interests of its country.

Cairo accuses Tel Aviv of being responsible for preventing the entry of humanitarian aid into the blockaded Gaza Strip.

"Israel must review the accumulation of Egyptian aid shipments at the Kerem SALom crossing, which exceeds 500 trucks, before accusing Egypt of obstructing the entry of aid into the (Palestinian) enclave," the source said.

Regarding the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the source said that Egypt's role as a mediator emerged after persistent demand.

"Egypt was shocked by the efforts of several parties that deliberately weakened Egypt's efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza," the source said.

More than 35,700 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 80,000 others injured since last October, after Israel launched a retaliatory attack on Hamas.

For more than seven months of Israel's war, much of Gaza's territory was destroyed by the blockade of access to food, clean water, and medicines.

Israel is accused of committing genocide at the International Court. The Court ordered Israel to ensure that its troops did not commit genocide in Gaza, and guaranteed that humanitarian aid be given to civilians in Gaza.
