Former President Director Of PT SMS Sarimuda Sued 4.5 Years In Prison For Coal Transportation Corruption Case

PALEMBANG - Palembang District Court (PN), South Sumatra demanded the former President Director of PT SMS Sarimuda with a sentence of 4.6 years in prison for the corruption case of coal transportation worth Rp. 18 billion.

"The defendant Sarimuda was legally and convincingly proven to have abused his authority in the position of Director of PT SMS, which is a BUMD belonging to the South Sumatra Provincial Government according to the law, so that the perpetrators can be held criminally responsible," said prosecutor Dian Hamisena as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 22.

As for the aggravating things, according to the prosecutor's consideration, the defendant's actions did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption, the defendant was not honest.

Meanwhile, for mitigating matters, according to the public prosecutor, the defendant had returned the state financial losses, the defendant was polite at trial.

After hearing the charges, the defendant Sarimuda stated that he would read the memorandum of defense or Pledoi at the next trial.

"The permit that we are starting to feel is very heavy and through my attorney, we will carry out a memorandum of defense at the next trial," said Sarimuda.
