East Java Police Chief Gathers Autobus Companies To Discuss Accident Anticipation
SURABAYA - East Java Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto immediately gathered the management of the autobus company to respond and discuss steps to anticipate traffic accidents, especially in the local area.
"Pak Dirlantas (director of traffic) immediately I told him to collect PO. There we spoke to him and it will be checked properly," said the Kapolda as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 22.
The plan to collect the management of the autobus company is one of the follow-up to the incident of a tourism bus accident carrying a group of students by truck on the Jombang-Mojokerto Toll Road, Tuesday (21/5) before midnight.
At the meeting later, the Kapolda will urge the owners of the autobus company to pay more attention to the condition of the vehicle as well as routinely carry out inspections.
"The examination is mainly on the vehicle brakes. Later there will be an agreement on how the accident can be anticipated," said the East Java Police Chief.
The accident occurred between the Bimario tourism bus number W-7422-UP and a truck numbered N-9674-UH that occurred at KM 695+400 on the Jombang-Mojokerto Toll Road on Tuesday (21/5) before midnight.

The tourism bus transports students of SMP PGRI Wonosari, Malang, who are on their way home from Yogyakarta to Malang.
As a result of the accident, two people died, namely Edy Sulistiono (45), a resident of Semanding Hamlet, Banggle Village, Kanigoro District, Blitar Regency, which is a bus assistant.
The second death toll was Edy Kresna Handaka (61), a resident of Ngebruk Village, Sumber Pucing District, Malang Regency, who was a teacher at the school.
In addition to the two people who died, dozens of students were injured. The students who survived were evacuated using a replacement bus, while those who died and were injured were taken to the hospital.
