NUSA Dua - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) proposed the central government to form a water institution.
AHY said that the establishment of this water institution is to realize welfare and activities that are fair and sustainable, especially in water management.
"The central or national government must form an institution that has the authority and capacity to integrate and synchronize all strategic policies and actions related to water management," AHY said in his remarks at the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Wednesday, May 22.
He said this water institution must be able to support cross-sectoral coordination and collaboration between institutions for water management.
Thus, in the future it can be a common welfare.
Because, he said, currently the issue of water is the most pressing thing globally.
"This institution must be agile and adaptive to be able to overcome various dimensions in terms of water management, especially to prevent and mitigate crises that can occur," he said.
In addition, AHY continued, this water institution must be able to overcome the most basic problems, namely sectoral egos and also related to overlap between stakeholders.
