IPA Semanggi Solo Stops Operating Due To Dispolminated Factory Waste
SOLO - Semanggi Solo Water Processing Installation (IPA), Central Java temporarily stopped operating due to contamination of ethanol and textile waste.
Semanggi IPA staff, Pornomo, said that the water that should have been processed by the Semanggi IPA began to be polluted at 11.00 WIB, while operations were stopped starting at 12.00 WIB.
"Water is polluted from factory waste in Sukoharjo. Meanwhile, ethanol waste enters from Kali Samin to Bengawan Solo, if textiles are immediately dumped into the Bengawan Solo River," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 21.
He said the operation was stopped because it had an impact on water that did not meet the quality standards.
"We don't know how long it will be stopped, this is while monitoring the water of Bengawan Solo," he said.
Even though the IPA operation was stopped, he ensured that currently there were still reserves for clean water.
"It's still there, but later it will be strong for how many hours we don't know. We continue to monitor the waste raw water. If this is a long duration, it will have a greater impact because our backup clean water supply will decrease," he said.
Asked about waste pollution, he said it could be reduced if there was additional water discharge in the river or factories stopped disposing of waste into the river.
"Because of the rain, there is an increase in the water discharge, whether the disposal has stopped disposing of waste. If we continue to dispose of it, we also cannot produce it," he said.
Meanwhile, he said, the clean water produced by the Semanggi IPA was used to meet needs in the Mojo area to the Kliwon Market.
