Myanmar Military Coup, Army Anticipates The Arrival Of Myanmar Refugees At The Border

JAKARTA - The repressive actions of the Myanmar military, which are increasing day after day, against anti-coup protesters, have made Myanmar civilians choose to flee Myanmar, especially to countries on the border.

In fact, around 100 refugees, mostly Myanmar police and their families, have fled to India by road for three days, which was done at night to escape the Myanmar military. They hide in Champai Mizoram District, India,

In anticipation of the arrival of similar refugees, Thailand has set up facilities in the provinces bordering Myanmar, to accommodate the possible influx of refugees, fleeing the brutal actions of the Myanmar police and military.

The Commander of the Thai Army General Narongphan Chitkaewtae visited security units in Mae Hong Son and Tak Provinces on Monday to check their readiness regarding the handling of refugees from the deteriorating situation in neighboring countries, reported Thai PBS World.

Seven districts in Mae Sot, Tha Song Yang, Mae Ramat and Phob Phra districts have been prepared as refugee camps. Meanwhile, four facilities in Kanchanaburi Province, which share the same border with Myanmar on the Three Pagoda Pass, can accommodate up to 2,000 refugees.

A crackdown on protesters by the junta in Myanmar has been reported in its border cities, such as Tachileik and Myawaddy in Myanmar which is opposite Mae Sai and Mae Sot districts in Thailand.
