Ahead Of The End Of The Harvest Season, The Price Of Grain At The Farmers' Level Reaches IDR 7,000 Per Kg

KARAWANG - President Director of Perum Bulog Bayu Krisnamurthi said that towards the end of the main harvest season, the price of unhulled rice at the farmer level is currently the highest price of unhulled rice with the best quality reaching IDR 7,000 per kg.

"The price of unhulled rice at the Rice Milling Center (SPP) and partners reaches Rp. 6,400-6500 per kg, and the best quality even reaches Rp. 7,000 per kg," explained Bayu at the Padi Milling Center (SPP) Bulog in Karawang, Monday, May 20.

With this price, Bayu predicts that the price of rice at the producer level will reach IDR 11,500 to IDR 12,000 per kg.

Bayu said that until now the total absorption of domestic rice has reached 535 thousand tons or the equivalent of 1,050 million tons of unhulled rice originating from the absorption of direct farmers' grain and rice milling since the main harvest period took place.

"The total procurement of unhulled rice and rice for the planting season 1 2024, the total procurement of Bulog per 19 May has reached 535,000 tons, equivalent to rice or approximately 1.050 million tons, equivalent to grain," he said.

Bayu emphasized that the main harvest season will end in the next two weeks and his party estimates that by the end of May 2024 it will be able to absorb 600 thousand tons of farmers' rice.

"We estimate that by the end of the procurement of the 1 planting season we can get more than 600 thousand tons of rice equivalent and that the figure is already higher than the absorption of the 2022 main harvest, although slightly lower than last year," he explained.

Bayu said that in an effort to accelerate absorption, his party would carry out a program to pick up grain and rice from agricultural and milling groups in all production centers.

In addition, Bayu said that until now the total government rice reserves (CBP) controlled by Bulog have reached 1.85 million tons and have been included in the results of the realization of imported rice procurement assigned to Bulog this year.

"But my guess is that this week (CBP stock) has dropped slightly because of the april food assistance, May juni, will be distributed," he concluded.
