Worried That The NIK Will Be Deactivated, 196 Thousand Jakarta Residents Living Outside The Region Have Changed Their ID Cards

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil) noted that as many as 197 thousand Jakarta residents living outside the area had taken care of the transfer of their population documents.

According to the domicile, the KTP is anticipated before their population identification number (NIK) is deactivated by the DKI Provincial Government in the future.

"A total of 197,266 residents have moved inside and outside DKI Jakarta according to their domicile until May 2024," wrote the DKI Jakarta Disdukcapil in an Instagram account, Monday, May 20.

From this condition, the Head of DKI Jakarta Disdukcapil Budi Awaluddin views that the socialization of the plan to deactivate the NIK of residents who no longer live in Jakarta by the DKI Provincial Government has been effective.

"It turns out that the effect is that many people have moved because the current socialization is quite massive to the community," said Budi.

The DKI Provincial Government has started the deactivation of the NIK with a target of 92 thousand Jakarta residents, with details of 81,119 NIK residents who died and 11,374 NIK residents in the Neighborhood Association (RT) who no longer exist.

Then, the deactivation of the NIK of Jakarta residents who already live outside the area will be carried out after the initial two categories have been deactivated.

However, there are categories of residents who are exempt from the deactivation of the NIK. Among them are the TNI-Polri apparatus and their families who are currently serving outside the city, students or students who are traveling outside the area, residents who are currently receiving treatment, to residents who still have property on behalf of the person concerned in Jakarta.

In the process, the DKI Provincial Government mapped out residents affected by the deactivation of the NIK. Then, the data was submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to remove the NIK.

Then, in verifying and validating the objections of residents affected by the deactivation of the NIK, the DKI Provincial Government will submit a recommendation to the Ministry of Home Affairs as a follow-up to the elimination of the NIK.

Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government only carries out regulations regarding controlling population administration. The deactivation of NIK to encourage residents to take care of this domicile move is regulated in Article 15 Paragraph 2 of Law (UU) Number 23 of 2006 concerning Population Administration with amendments to Law Number 24 of 2013.

Heru asked all parties to understand the importance of controlling population administration. He emphasized that the policy of deactivating the NIK could help the community resolve problems to reduce the number of crimes.

"If someone has an accident, the address is different, there is no RT where the RT is, where the location at the address is no longer a house building, where do we want to tell the family? and that happened. So, related to banking administration," explained Heru.

"Now there are many loans. There are addresses for residents who are used. There are banking criminal activities, the address is used. Later the village head, sub-district head, RT, RW. You can be asked why you don't know the residents there, right? That's about it," he added.
