At The CEM Forum, The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Affirms The Acceleration Of Energy Transition Responsibility For All Countries

JAKARTA - The annual meeting of the international forum Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) Senior Official's Meeting and Mission Innovation (MI) which will be held from 15-17 May 2024 in Bali is officially closed. Brazil will host the next meeting next year.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) represented by the Head of the Communication, Public Information and Cooperation Service (KLIK) Agus Cahyono Adi expressed his high appreciation and appreciation to all CEM and MI delegates who had collaborated well in the past three days.

"We also thank you to the co-hosts from Australia, the CEM Secretariat, and the MI Secretariat who have compiled and held this annual meeting well," he said at the closing plenary session of the meeting, quoted on Saturday, May 18.

CEM and MI, Agus said, as one of the global platforms in the field of technology and clean energy, can share experiences and learning in implementing accelerated policy and technology development, especially for all member countries, and can also be applied to global countries outside of CEM and MI members.

"We hope that all the things produced from all sessions can contribute to policy making in accelerating the global energy transition," he said.

For three days, the CEM and MI delegates attended the meeting as a whole, as well as were divided into special sessions discussing topics specifically. The sessions that all delegates participated discussed various kinds of clean energy transitions, narrowing the need for energy transitions, to discussing technology development and solutions to innovating.

Each delegation is given the opportunity to outline views on their respective roles in the international world. Then discuss changes in the context of the energy transition since the launch of the CEM and MI, as well as the impact of the development of multilateral cooperation. So that the role of the CEM and MI forums can be seen to convey and continue to support coordinated changes in globally pursuing net zero emissions ambitions.

The CEM Forum is an annual energy field meeting that took place in 2010 as a follow-up to the COP-15 UNFCCC in Denmark. CEM consists of 29 member countries aimed at advancing policies and programs to improve clean energy technology, knowledge sharing and best practices, and encouraging a transition to a clean economy globally.

While MI is a global initiative in encouraging a clean energy revolution launched by 20 countries at COP21 in Paris in 2015. Countries that are members of the MI now number 24 countries, and are committed to increasing up to 2 times the funding for research and development in the field of clean energy in the next 5 years.
