Dayak Kenyah Traditional Leader Colors The Marriage Of The Son Of The Kaltara Police Chief

TANJUNG SELOR - The son of the North Kalimantan Police Chief (Kaltara) Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya, Johan Nathaniel Ega and Elva Waniza, the daughter of the Head of the Great Traditional Apau Kayan, Ibau Ala, will hold the Kenyah Dayak Customary.

The chairman of the Pekiban committee, Nawan, said that the peak of the wedding procession for the Dayak Kenyah tribe by the two brides (Ega & Elva) was held at the Tanjung Selor Pesparawi building on Friday, May 24.

"The preparation is 70 percent, starting from traditional dances to Pengulo is ready," said Nawan, Friday, May 17.

Nawan revealed that the Pekiban procession will begin with picking up the bride and groom by the groom with the group.

"After the pick-up, the bride and groom and their entourage headed to the Pesparawi building, we have also arranged the road route," he said.

Ritual Pekiban has become a traditional marriage tradition carried out by the ancestors of the Dayak Kenyah tribe.

"The Petiban event of the two brides also introduced the Dayak Kenyah tribe culture. Moreover, this traditional ceremony (Pekiban) since 2019 has been designated as Indonesian Cultural Heritage," he explained.

Apart from officials and Kaltara community leaders, thousands of Dayak Kenyahnese will certainly attend the event.

"This event is also a wedding reception held by the bride and groom's family (Elva). The marriage contract or blessing has been held at the Hosana Ecumenical Church at the Kaltara Police Headquarters, receptions and wedding processions with Javanese customs have been held in Jakarta in November 2023," he concluded.
