Prosecutor's Office Detains Head Of Siak BPBD Suspect For Disaster Fund Corruption
SIAK - The Siak District Attorney's Office, Riau has named the Head of the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Kaharuddin as a suspect in corruption in the misuse of disaster management funds for the 2022 fiscal year.
Head of the Intelligence Section of the Siak Kejari, Rawaan Damanik, said that the determination of the suspect was carried out after going through a series of investigations. Until finally, the case was exposed and named Kaharuddin as a suspect.
"Furthermore, the Siak Kejari investigating team detained KHD's brother for 20 days at the Siak Resort Police from 17 May 2024 to 5 June 2024 because he was feared he would run away, destroy or eliminate evidence," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 17.
In the audit report on alleged corruption in the misuse of disaster management funds at the Siak Regency BPBD for the 2022 fiscal year, there was a state financial loss of IDR 1.1 billion.

The modus operandi of the suspect is to direct NS witnesses as expenditure treasurers to set aside and collect money from all Siak Regency Regional Disaster Management activities in 2022. The money was used for Kaharuddin's personal interests.
"That KHD directs its staff to carry out malicious conspiracy in the procurement of goods and services in 2022 and the profits are used for the personal interests of KHD brothers," said the intelligence officer.
