Mount Semeru 5 Times Eruption With An Eruption Height Up To 900 Meters

Mount Semeru, which is on the border of Lumajang Regency with Malang, East Java (East Java), experienced five eruptions with an eruption height of up to 900 meters above the peak on Friday morning.

The first eruption occurred at 06.29 WIB, then the second eruption occurred at 06.50 WIB, then at 07.28 WIB, then the eruption returned at 07.57 WIB, and at 08.05 WIB.

"The Semeru Monument erupted on Friday at 06.29 WIB with a column height of ash observed about 500 meters above the peak and a column of ash was observed to be white to gray with moderate to southwest intensity," said Mount Semeru Observation Post Officer Liswanto in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 17.

According to him, the second eruption occurred at 06.50 WIB with a column height of ash observed about 600 meters above the peak with a column of ash observed to be white to gray with moderate intensity to the southwest.

The height of the eruption of volcanic ash is getting higher in the third eruption at 07.28 WIB, with a column height of ash observed at about 700 meters above the peak or about 4,376 meters above sea level (masl).

"The volcanic ash column was observed to be white to gray with moderate intensity to the north. When the report was made, the eruption was still ongoing," he said.

Mount Semeru erupted again at 07.57 WIB with a column height of ash observed about 500 meters above the peak or 4,176 meters above sea level. The ash column was observed to be white to gray with moderate intensity to the south.

Liswanto said the fifth eruption occurred at 08.05 WIB with a column height of ash observed up to 900 meters above the peak and a column of ash was observed to be white to gray with moderate to northeastern intensity.
