Bandung City Government Implements Vehicle Free Friday Starting May 17

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) implements a vehicle-free day every Friday starting May 17, 2024, which applies to all leaders and employees based in the Bandung City Hall environment.

Head of the General Section of the Regional Secretariat of Bandung City, West Java, Syukur Sabar, said that the implementation of this vehicle-free Friday was an effort to encourage employees within the City Hall to use public transportation and reduce vehicle pollution.

"Every Friday there should be no two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles parked at Bandung City Hall," said Syukur as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 15.

Syukur menyebutkan saat ini terdapat 1.200 pegawai yang berkantor di Balai Kota Bandung dengan 300 kendaraan roda empat dan 900 kendaraan roda dua.

He said all vehicles should not enter the Bandung City Hall area except for people who will seek treatment at the puskesmas and ambulance vehicles.

Meanwhile, guests who will come, can be taken down at Taman Dewi Sartika and then the vehicle must leave the Bandung City Hall area.

"People who want to seek treatment at the City Hall Health Center, we give special stickers. However, for health center officials, nurses are not allowed to carry vehicles," he said.

The Bandung City Secretariat has prepared four vehicles to become employee transportation in the form of two Hiaces and two minibuses.

The vehicle will deliver employees from several points of transportation, including Terminal Ledeng, Pajajaran, Antapani, Cicaheum and Leuwipanjang.

"Later, the employees will use public transportation. Some use bicycles or walk to the office. Employees can use the provided transportation," he said.
