Semarang Prosecutor's Office Investigate Extortion Practices For Transfer Of Land Rights

SEMARANG- The Semarang District Attorney's Office (Kota) is investigating the possibility of illegal levies (extortion) practices by devices at the lower level asking for a sum of money to help manage the cost of transferring land rights, which is called the cost of pologoros.

The search was carried out to detect investment disruptions in the capital city of Central Java.

"The mode of the land mafia is on behalf of Pologoro's costs," said Head of Special Investigation Unit of Semarang City Attorney Agus Sunaryo in Semarang, quoted from ANTARA, Wednesday, May 15.

Pologoro is a levy on the transfer of land and buildings belonging to the village.

Such practices, he continued, will burden investors who will invest in Semarang City because there are additional costs that must be incurred.

The Semarang City Prosecutor's Office itself has taken action against an extortion case against investors who will buy in the capital city of Central Java by the former Sawah Besar Village Head, with the initials JS

Agus explained that the incident occurred in 2021 when the suspect was still the head of the village.

"The village head as one of the state officials must not accept something that is not in accordance with the provisions," he said.

In addition, he continued, the suspect had never reported the money he received.

He explained that the suspect TS collected around Rp160 million from a businessman who bought a plot of land in Sawah Besar Village, Semarang City.

The money, he continued, was allegedly a levy on the cost of transferring certificates from Letter C to property rights.

From the investigation that had been carried out, the prosecutor's office confiscated Rp160 million which was suspected to be the result of extortion and receipts of the money.
