Police Reveal Fields In Madina North Sumatra, 144.5 Tons Of Marijuana Seized

JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Metro Police confiscated 144.5 tons of marijuana originating from a 12-hectare cannabis field in the mountains in Banjar Lancat Village, Mandailing Natal (Madina), North Sumatra. These hundreds of tonnes of cannabis were the result of a seven-month long investigation.

"There are about 144.5 tonnes of marijuana that the West Jakarta Metro Police managed to seize. 500 kilograms of cannabis is ready for distribution and has been packaged weighing one kilogram," Head of Metro Jaya Police Inspector General Fadil Imran told reporters, Tuesday, March 9.

Hundreds of tons of marijuana were found to exist, starting with the arrest of the suspect with the initials AH. AH was arrested with 75 kilograms of marijuana as evidence on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.

From there, the police arrested SF and SP in Solok, West Sumatra in August 2020. They were couriers of 157 kilograms of marijuana.

Further redevelopment was carried out and captured NG and MOL in Sijunjung, West Sumatra in December 2020. They were couriers and orderers of 173 kilograms of marijuana.

Then in February 2021, two suspects with the initials DK as orderer and courier, PYP, were arrested in Depok, West Java. Both were arrested with 115 kilograms of marijuana as evidence.

Until finally, development led to and found a 12 hectare cannabis field. In addition, the owner of the bounty farm with the initials ZF and the worker, IB, was arrested on 23 February.

"Starting from July 2020 to February 2021 the West Jakarta Metro Police Satnarkoba team managed to secure nine suspects," he said.

The police charged the suspects with Article 113 subsidiary Article 114 subsidiary to Article 111 subsidiary to Article 132 of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
