The Tradition Of The Doorstop Becomes The Opening Of The 2024 Tenabang Lebaran
JAKARTA - One of the traditions of the Betawi people, the doorstop, is the opening of the annual event, Lebaran Tenabang 2024 on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Central Jakarta.
Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta Chaidir said Lebaran Tenabang was a gathering for Tanah Abang residents, most of whom had moved to buffer areas in the Bodetabek area.
"This is held at the end (of) Syawal, it is very interesting because it is always held every year," said Chaidir when met at the opening of Lebaran Tenabang at the Tanah Abang District office, Central Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 11.
According to him, although many people have moved to areas outside Jakarta, surely they still love their hometowns in Tanah Abang.
Chaidir also explained that Tanah Abang is the largest sub-district out of eight sub-districts in Central Jakarta.
Tanah Abang also has characteristics in celebrating Eid, one of which is by displaying Betawi culture and art, such as doorstops, silat complaints, to the "set" competition or skinning goats.
One of the community leaders of Tanah Abang, Riano Ahmad, explained that Lebaran Tenabang is an annual event that has been held eight times.
Before finally being promoted and fully supported by the Central Jakarta City Government, the local residents' halal bihalal event was initially initiated by a combination of community organizations in Tanah Abang.
"Initially, my friends had the spirit of local wisdom to hold Lebaran Tenabang, so we took the initiative ourselves, we even jointly jointly jointly held this event. Finally, they got serious attention from the Central Jakarta Cultural Sub-Department," said Riano, who is also a member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.
Lebaran Tenabang 2024 will be held on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, to be precise in front of the Tanah Abang District Office.

This event will be held in one full day until tonight at 19.00-21.00 WIB.
The event was enlivened by the "setting" goat competition, silat choreography competition, Tenabang martial arts street demonstrations, to the performance of the Malay orchestra from Samrah Sikumbang.
Dozens of typical Betawi food and handicraft outlets were also seen lined up along the road.
The public is also enthusiastic about tasting the typical Betawi dodol sold for IDR 10,000 per pack.
"Every year I always come here, because there are many snacks. There are music and dances on stage. It's fun to bring the child here because it's free too," said one of the visitors, Yusuf from Kebon Kacang Village.
