Mahfud Claims The Government Did Not Intervene In The Investigation Of The FPI Laskar Shooting Case
JAKARTA - There was a time when there was pressure to form a joint fact-finding team (TGPF) to investigate the shooting of six FPI troops. This pressure arose because of his distrust of the results of the investigation.
However, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD claimed that the government did not interfere with the investigation process, either by Komnas HAM or the police.
"The president did not interfere at all. The government has never concluded this, concluded that," Mahfud said in a YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, March 9.
Mahfud said that President Joko Widodo gave the widest possible opportunity to Komnas HAM when they investigated the deaths of six FPI troops.
"At that time, the President said that Komnas HAM was welcome to work freely. Call anyone who feels that he has an opinion, who feels that he has faith, not to tell the president what the recommendations are," Mahfud said.
Then this morning, the Murder Incident Guard Team (TP3) initiated by Amien Rais, Marwan Batubara, Abdullah Hehamahua, and several other people came to President Joko Widodo at the State Palace.
Seven TP3 members came to the State Palace at around 10.00 WIB. His meeting with Jokowi, who was accompanied by Menkopolhukam Mahfud MD and State Secretary Pratikno, only lasted about 15 minutes.
Mahfud MD said that the atmosphere of the meeting was quite serious in a short time. In essence, Amien Rais asked Jokowi to hold a human rights court related to the shooting of six FPI troops.
This is because TP3 believes that there have been gross human rights violations, not ordinary human rights violations. However, the government disagrees.
"I said that the government is open. If there is, where is the evidence of serious human rights violations? Where? Tell it now or if not, tell the President what to do later," said Mahfud.
"If you just say you are sure, you can't. Because we have faith too, there are many perpetrators, this is the culprit, that's the brain, that's the financing, we are also sure. But there's no proof," he continued.
