Angkasa Pura I Expands Sultan Hasanuddin Airport In Makassar, Juanda Surabaya, Lombok Praya, And Sam Ratulangi Manado

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) continues to accelerate the completion of airport development projects to support air connectivity in the country. There are at least four airport development projects that are currently being carried out by Angkasa Pura I and are targeted for completion in 2021.

The four development projects are the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Development Project in Makassar, Juanda Airport in Surabaya, Lombok Praya Airport, and Manado's Sam Ratulangi Airport.

"The development of these four airports is strategic in nature to encourage air connectivity and increase the traffic capacity of air transport and logistics, especially in the central and eastern regions of Indonesia," said the Managing Director of Angkasa Pura I, Faik Fahmi, in a written statement, Tuesday, March 9.

As of early March 2021, the progress of the development of Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar has reached 62.28 percent and is targeted to be completed in May 2021. The airport development includes terminal expansion which reaches 166,815 square meters so that it can accommodate 15 million passengers per year from the existing terminal area of 51,815 square meters. with a capacity of 7 million passengers per year.

In addition, the apron was also expanded to 385,346 square meters (53 parking stands capacity) from the existing area of only 185,500 square meters (42 parking stands capacity).

The progress of the development of Juanda Airport in Surabaya until early March 2021 has reached 93 percent. The development of Juanda Airport in Surabaya includes expansion of Terminal 1 along with improvements to its interior and supporting facilities, overlay runway 10-28, reconstruction of Terminal B apron, and expansion of the international cargo terminal.

The expansion of Terminal 1 to 91,700 square meters from 62,700 square meters will increase the capacity of Terminal 1 to 13 million passengers per year from the current 7 million per year.

The current development progress of Lombok Praya Airport has reached 96 percent. This development is carried out to support the development of the Mandalika special economic area (KEK) which is the location for the 2021 MotoGP.

The developments carried out include the extension of the runway from 2,750 meters to 3,300 meters, and the expansion of the terminal to 40 thousand square meters which can accommodate 7 million passengers per year or 2 times the previous capacity.

Meanwhile, the progress of the development of Sam Ratulangi Airport in Manado has now reached 80 percent. This airport development expands the passenger terminal to 57,296 square meters from 26,481 square meters. The expansion of this terminal has made Sam Ratulangi Airport in Manado able to accommodate up to 5.7 million passengers per year compared to previously only 2.6 million per year.
