Disbanded 2 Months Ago, Persipura Was Given A Week To Ensure Participation In The Menpora Cup

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) Akhmad Hadian Lukita hopes that Persipura Jayapura can take part in the 2021 Menpora Cup pre-season tournament.

According to Akhmad Hadian, the participation of all teams in the Menpora Cup is important because the tournament marks the return of Indonesian soccer competition after a one-year break.

"We want to invite that we want to be brothers together, we also want to celebrate or run this match together," said Akhmad Hadian after the draw for the Menpora Cup group in Jakarta, Monday reported by Antara.

Persipura Jayapura has yet to confirm that it will participate in the 2021 Menpora Cup which will start on March 21. The team nicknamed the Black Pearl has not yet formed a team after being disbanded in early January due to the financial crisis.

However, Hadian said PT LIB is still actively communicating with Persipura. He will even give the next week to wait for confirmation of their participation in the Menpora Cup.

"Yes, we will wait for a week. We will discuss it next week. "Drawings already exist, Persipura is in Group A. If it really doesn't work, it will be removed," he said.

A similar expectation was also conveyed by PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan. He understands how difficult the team is in gathering players but he will try to persuade the team owner so that Persipura can take part in the Menpora Cup.

"We will keep waiting, so hopefully we can participate because we know (the location) is quite far away, it is also difficult to gather players," said Iriawan.

"And we also have a special request to the club owner and I have communicated. If Persipura is involved, the number will become crowded, there are 18 clubs, ”he concluded.

Based on the results of the draw for the 2021 Menpora Cup group which took place at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, Monday, Persipura is part of Group A with Arema FC, PSIS Semarang, Barito Putera and Tira Persikabo.
