Persib Bandung Does Not Set A Smooth Target In The 2021 Menpora Cup

JAKARTA - Director of PT. Persib Bandung Bermartabat (PBB) Teddy Tjahjono admitted that he did not set any targets for his club in the 2021 Menpora Cup pre-season tournament.

According to Teddy, he did not want to set a target that was too far away because the competition this time was only seen as a warm-up.

He only asked his team to focus on recovering their physical condition, after a year off from playing.

"There is no target because this is pre-season. I explained earlier that we used this event as an arena for players to start training again," said Teddy after the draw for the 2021 Menpora Cup group, in Jakarta, Monday, as reported by Antara.

Persib Bandung, which is part of Group D, will start its adventure in the Menpora Cup 2021 against Bali United, Persita Tangerang, and Persiraja Banda Aceh.

Responding to the draw, Teddy did not want to bother.

According to him, the most important thing right now is how to revive Indonesian football in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We actually don't see a chance or anything, because for us it's still pre-season. So what's important for us is that football can start again and players can play again,” he said.

However, Teddy admitted that the players might not be able to perform in good form, because according to him it took time to restore the physical condition of the players.

"Of course they need a process they have not played for 11 months, of course, they need time to restore their physical condition, touch the ball, and others," he also said.

"So in our opinion, the important thing is that football is back, players can play again, that later regarding the result this is a process, it's only been a week of training we don't have a specific target, which is important we are grateful that football can run again," said Teddy as well.
