President Jokowi Reveals Synchronization Is The Key In Development
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the central government had prepared a medium and long-term government work plan (RKP).
Therefore, local governments must synchronize work plans with the central government so that all planned plans can be achieved.
"We have long-term, medium-term, and entering development plans that each of us has a government work plan or RKP. However, this is not yet the case. Therefore, synchronization is the key to development," he said at the 2024 National Development Planning Conference at JCC Senayan Jakarta, Monday, May 6.
According to Jokowi, there are several examples of cases that are often not synchronized between the central and regional governments in designing development even though synchronization is the key to development.
Jokowi gave an example, such as the central government building dams for irrigation community rice fields.
However, the local government did not immediately continue the program by building irrigation under the pretext of not having a regional budget.
"The central government builds a dam, so. Build the primary irrigation again, so. But secondary and tertiary irrigation to the fields are not carried out, the water does not reach the rice fields we have. Building the port, the port is built by the Ministry of Transportation. But the road, this should be the area, the road to the port even though it is short, only a fifth of a kilo is not carried out," he explained.
However, Jokowi conveyed that even though previously the local government had agreed to the program's plan.
"This is what is called non-synchronous and non-uniform. Even though everything must be in line with medium and long-term RKP, it must be in line from the ministry to the regions," he said.

Jokowi said that all plans must be in line with the national medium-term development plan. Therefore, it is important to synchronize between the central and regional governments.
On the other hand, Jokowi said that currently the government must be careful in budget management amid global tensions. Even today, several countries such as Japan, Britain and Europe have entered the brink of recession.
"Therefore, because we are in managing fiscal budgets, we must be really careful. Do not let one rupiah miss the plan that has been made," he concluded.
