This Is What Canelo Alvarez Said After Conquering Jaime Munguia
JAKARTA Saul Canelo Alvarez proved himself to be still stronger than his junior, Jaime Munguia. The fight between two Mexican boxers which was held at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Saturday night, May 4, 2024 or Sunday morning, May 5 in Indonesia, was won by Canelo with an absolute figure of 12 rounds.
The three judges who judged, all gave a win to Canelo. Cheatham's team assessed 117-110, David Sutherland gave 116-111, and Steve Weisfeld with 115-112. All for Canelo, the Mexican boxing star.
Not only winning absolute points, Canelo also provided a new experience for Munguia. A right uppercut that Canelo (33) released, hit Munguia's chin (27) and knocked him down in round 4. It was Munguia's first time feeling a knockout.
"I could actually have killed you with a knockout, but I didn't. I deliberately bought time, none other than to make sure that I didn't make any fatal mistakes throughout the fighting round," Canelo was quoted as saying by Marca.

Regarding the next fight plan, Canelo said he had not thought about it. He just said he wanted to rest first, before discussing the matter of the next fight.
As the true super middleweight champion (75 kg), Canelo Alvarez has now set a record 61-2-2 (39 KOs). While Munguia suffered the first defeat, which made his fighting record tarnished to 43-1-0 (34 KOs).
