BSI Must Restore Economy, DPR: Not Just A Merger
JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI DPR RI (Parliament of The Republic of Indonesia) Abdul Hakim Bafagih highlighted the merger of several Sharia banks by the Ministry of BUMN (State-Owned Corporation) into PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). According to him, BSI must play a role in the recovery of the national economy.
Moreover, said Hakim, the MSMEs sector is currently not moving quickly. This is because MSMEs have limited purchasing power. For this reason, he hopes that BSI can become the leading sector for national economic recovery.
"Don't just be a merger, but become a leading sector for the national economic recovery that can focus on people and also MSMEs", said Hakim in an interruption during the plenary opening of the Sixth Session of Session Year 2020-2021 at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, March 8.
Hakim admitted that he was very appreciative of the BUMN Ministry's breakthrough which had made maximum efforts in encouraging and merging several Sharia Banks into PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia Persero (Tbk).
"Therefore, we have great hopes for PT Bank Syariah Indonesia. Hopefully with breakthroughs like this made by the Ministry of BUMN, in the future we, the Indonesian people, can get through the crisis both in health and the national economy", said Hakim.
