Don't Want To Underestimate, Fajar Alfian Is Ready To Face Taiwan In The 2024 Thomas Cup Semifinals
JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles player Fajar Alfian said Taiwan had shown a very good performance in the quarter-finals, where Chou Tien Chen and his friends defeated European giants, Denmark, 3-1.
The captain of the Indonesian men's team did not want to underestimate the Taiwan team in the 2024 Thomas Cup semifinals which was held on Saturday, May 4.
"Chinese Taipei played very extraordinaryly when they beat Denmark. They cannot be underestimated, because in all parties, their (power) is also flat (in every sector)," Fajar said when met at the Chengdu Hi Tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium, Chengdu, China, Friday, May 3.
However, Fajar assessed that Indonesia also had the opportunity to complete their journey and qualify for the final round to fight for the Thomas Cup again.
Indonesia also has a chance, an opportunity to qualify (to the final round). However, this opportunity with Chinese Taipei is stillani. Everything depends on our readiness, and how each team can prove themselves on the field, "said the defending champion of the All England Open.
"Regarding the upcoming match, we continue to maintain confidence and don't want to be too proud. Everything is done step by step, and later there will also be a meeting with the team (to prepare themselves)," he said as quoted by ANTARA.
Meanwhile, Fajar and Daniel Marthin were the determinants of Indonesia's victory over South Korea in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Thomas Cup.

Previously, Fajar/Daniel won over South Korea's new men's doubles Ki Dong Ju/Kim Won Ho in the quarter-finals through two straight games 21-12, 21-13.
On the other hand, Indonesia's first victory over South Korea was won by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who won over young player Jeon Ji Hyeok through a rubber game with a score of 14-21, 21-16, 21-16.
The second victory was recorded by Jonatan Christie's second men's singles over Cho Geon Yeop through a rubber game with a score of 17-21, 21-17, 21-10.
Meanwhile, the men's doubles Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri had to lose to Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae 15-21, 12-21.
