Serena Williams Understands The Pain And Cruelty Experienced By Meghan Markle

JAKARTA - Serena Williams fully supports Meghan Markle after an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Prince Harry's wife has accused the British Royal family of racism.

Meghan, in an interview with Oprah that aired on CBS on Sunday night, said the British Royal family is concerned about how dark their child's skin is.

The 39-year-old, whose mother is black and whose father is white, also admits being pushed to the brink of suicide after marrying the British royals in 2018.

Williams, a black woman who won 23 Grand Slam tournaments, said her "best friend" Meghan had taught her "what it really means to be noble."

"I know firsthand the institutions of sexism and racism and the use of the media to demonize women and people of color to minimize us, to divide us and dominate us," Williams tweeted on her Twitter account, as quoted by Antara on Monday.

"We must recognize our obligation to denounce malicious gossip and tabloid journalism.

"The mental health consequences of systemic oppression and victimization are devastating, isolating, and often all of them lethal."

Meghan and Harry said in an interview that their second child, born this summer, was a daughter.

"I want Meghan's daughter, mine and yours to live in a respect-driven society," added Williams.
