Sue Pretrial, Panji Gumilang Asks All Frozen Assets To Be Returned Again

The suspect in the money laundering crime (TPPU) Panji Gumilang filed a pretrial lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) and in his petitum asked the panel to decide that all assets frozen by Bareskrim Polri be returned.

"Ordered the respondent (Bareskrim Polri) to return all assets of the confiscated Ma'had Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School," said Panji Gumilang's attorney, Alvin Lim when reading the application at the South Jakarta District Court as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 2.

According to him, the determination of the suspect against the head of the Al-Zaytun Abdussalam Islamic Boarding School, Panji Gumilang, was baseless, and even the prosecutor's office also returned the TPPU case file which was alleged to Panji Gumilang, on the grounds that the file was incomplete.

In addition, said Alvin, the P-19 (case files returned to investigators to be completed) issued by the Prosecutor's Office showed that investigators did not provide two pieces of evidence in determining the money laundering offense suspect to Panji Gumilang.

For this reason, said Alvin, in the pretrial application submitted at the South Jakarta District Court, Panji Gumilang requested that the determination of the suspect related to the money laundering offense case be canceled by law and all assets frozen and blocked be returned immediately.

"Declaring that the act of the respondent who determines the applicant as a suspect is an arbitrary act, because it is not in accordance with legal provisions and declared null and void," he said.

Previously, the Director of Economic and Special Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan detailed that the assets consisted of land, vehicles and cash.

The land consists of five plots of land in Depok City covering an area of 886 square meters with a value of Rp. 6 billion.

Then, there are 42 plots of land in Indramayu Regency with a total area of 29.6 hectares (about 296 thousand square meters) worth IDR 27.3 billion.

For vehicles, three IsuzuMux cars worth IDR 1.1 billion and money in 16 Bank Mandiri accounts worth IDR 271 billion and an account containing USD 480,700 dollars.

Alvin also asked that the judge restore all legal rights of the applicant in his abilities, position and dignity.

Previously, Dittipideksus Bareskrim Polri investigators had named Abdussalam Panji Gumilang (APG) as a suspect in the alleged money laundering case with the initial criminal act of embezzlement of foundation money.

The decision to increase the status of Panji Gumilang from the reported suspect was taken after investigators together with the internal and external team of the National Police conducted a case title.

"The conclusion of the results of the case title raises his status as a suspect in the articles," said Director of Special Economic Crimes (Dirtipideksus) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General of Police Whisnu Hermawan at the Jakarta Police Headquarters, Thursday 26 November 2023.
