The Moment Of Hardiknas, Independent Curriculum Learning Claimed To Create Creative Students In Papua
JAYAPURA - The Jayapura Regency Government (Pemkab), Papua in commemorating National Education Day (Hardiknas) stated that the Independent Learning Curriculum makes students creative and innovative.
The theme of the 2024 national education day (Hardiknas) is 'Move Together, Continue Freedom of Learning'.
Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Jayapura Regency Hana S Hikoyabi in Sentani, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, May 2, said that the Independent Curriculum for Learning is expected to have a free spirit in terms of self-development.
"They are required to explore their own potential, talents and abilities without being restrained by the rules and conditions that apply in learning," he said.
According to the regional secretary, the Independent Curriculum Learning aims to hone students' interests and talents from an early age to focus on essential materials, character development and competence of students.
"Teachers not only provide knowledge that is in accordance with what is in the book, but how to develop this knowledge according to the character and abilities of students so that it is useful in everyday life," he said.
He explained that most schools in Jayapura Regency have established this curriculum in educating students to be independent and have leadership capabilities.
"Information obtained from the education office is that as many as 134 elementary schools, 44 junior high schools and 2 high schools/vocational schools in Jayapura Regency have implemented an independent learning curriculum," he said.

He asked the education office so that this year schools that have not implemented Merdeka Belajar so that they are encouraged to implement it to support the central government's program.
"For schools that have not implemented the independent learning curriculum, students are trained to have a strong character and are able to implement theory into practice so that it is beneficial for their future," he said.
