Remembering May 1, The Beginning Of Papua Development, It's No Longer A Time To Split Interests

JAYAPURA - Papuan traditional community leader Yanto Eluay said May 1, 1963, was the beginning of development on Cenderawasih Earth.

According to Yanto, quoted from ANTTARA, Papua now has to advance in all fields, it is no longer time to be divided with various interests.

"We have to admit that after the joining of West Irian or Papua on May 1, 1963, all developments began from Sorong to Merauke," said Papuan Traditional Leader Yanto Eluay in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, Wednesday.

"In PPB, the status of Papua is final, so let all elements of society must maintain security and order conditions for better development in the future," he said.

He also said that all developments currently being carried out by the government must be well supported without having to try to hinder it.

"If we are still divided when development can be evenly distributed in all fields, and surely Papua will continue to be left behind inversely proportional to other regions in Indonesia," he said.

He added, with special autonomy (Otsus) the Papuan people should be able to continue to develop both in the government, private and educational sectors.

"My brothers, both in the mountains, valleys and coasts, let us join hands in filling development in Papua, so that people can get welfare," he said.
