Conor McGregor Will Become Rich Man If He Sells Shares Of His Whiskey Company, He Will Get IDR 2.1 Trillion
JAKARTA - Conor McGregor is reported to be getting a big fee. But not from a fight in the octagon.
According to news, the Mexican beverage company Becle will take over the whiskey company owned by the UFC star. Allegedly, for ₤ 110 million (IDR 2, 1 trillion).
McGregor launched Proper 12 three years ago under parent company Eire Born Spirits, which he co-founded with his manager Audie Attar and entrepreneur Ken Austin.
Becle, who owns the Jose Cuervo tequila brand, initially acquired a 20 percent stake in the company when it was launched. Since last year, the share has reportedly increased to 49 percent.
Now, the company says it intends to acquire the remaining 51 percent of ownership.
"On February 23, 2021, the company gave notification regarding the exercise of a call option to acquire 51 percent of EBS's equity holdings", the statement reads as quoted by the Daily Star, Tuesday, March 9.
"We hope to announce more details after the close of the deal".
After Becle acquired its 49 percent stake last year, the company is estimated to be worth £ 170 million.
The full purchase of the company could run McGregor and his partners around £ 110 million.
