Accommodating Labor Aspirations, National Police Chief Appoints KSPI President To Become Expert Staff

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo formed a special unit to handle the employment sector by appointing KSPI President Andi Gani Nena Wea as Expert Staff of the National Police Chief in order to accommodate the aspirations of workers related to solving problems related to crimes faced by workers.

"Earlier, it was agreed that friends from the leadership of the confederation and union, appointed Bung Andi Gani to become the Expert Staff of the National Police Chief in the employment sector," said General Pol. Sigit while attending the May Day commemoration at the May Day 2024 Command Post, Madia GBK Stadium, Jakarta, quoted from ANTARA, Wednesday, May 1.

The four-star police general conveyed the appointment of the Chief of Police's Expert Staff based on the results of the meeting that took place between his party and the labor union in order to oversee problems related to employment.

"There is one thing that is encouraging today. Earlier on the agreement of all colleagues, this confederation is also part of the National Police institution to continue to oversee related to employment issues, the rights that are fought for," he said.

The former Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police said that the police will continue to fight for the rights of the workers. These efforts have been going on until now, and are being developed to oversee the problems that occur in the workers' extended family and related to employment, such as existing disputes, so that all can run in an orderly manner and labor rights can be fought for.

It is known that economic growth can be created by maintaining security and order in the community (kamtibmas), one of which is the role of workers in maintaining this security and order.

Currently, he said, Indonesia's economic growth is at 5 percent (number two in the world), and investments have grown by IDR 1,400 trillion, and have added jobs to around 1.8 million.

Not only domestic workers, he continued, the National Police also provides protection to migrant workers abroad.

"Likewise, fellow workers abroad, we provide the same protection," he said.

The National Police, he said, continues to develop police attaches to cooperate with relevant stakeholders abroad to provide protection for Indonesian migrant workers there, who may be affected by legal issues, deceived, there is persecution, and others.

"Alhamdulillah, we continue to work on this effort. I congratulate you. We hope that it will certainly be a special gift for fellow workers so that they can be communicated properly. We hope that the workers will be more prosperous," said General Pol. Sigit.
