Thousands Of Workers Will Commemorate May Day, 3,454 Joint Personnel Deployed
JAKARTA - Thousands of workers will hold an action to commemorate International Labor Day or May Day on May 1, 2024. Regarding security, Polda Metro Jaya will deploy 3,454 joint personnel.
"There are 3,454 joint personnel from Polda Metro Jaya, Polres ranks, Kodam Jaya, and the DKI Provincial Government who are ready to secure activities to express opinions in public as well as activities to celebrate labor day," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters, Tuesday, April 30.
Thousands of personnel will be alerted at several mapped points. This is because the mass action of workers is said to be held in two locations.
Ade said the mass of workers would celebrate May Day at the Madya Senayan Stadium, Central Jakarta. Then, hold an action to express opinions in the Horse Statue area, Central Jakarta.
"It's the same at the Horse Statue, yes. The submission of the action was at the Horse Statue, then the celebration was at the Madya Stadium," he said.
As for traffic engineering as a step to prevent congestion, Ade said it would be done situationally. Later, officers at the location will determine the implementation of the engineering.
"The diversion of traffic flow will be carried out situationally by our colleagues in the field, at some points there are control officers. Later situationally, police steps will be taken to create kamseltibcarlantas," said Ade.

As previously reported, workers who are members of the Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPI) will take May Day action or commemorate International Labor Day. One of the agenda is to ask the president to be elected to abolish outsourcing and low wages.
KSPI President Said Iqbal said as many as 50,000 workers from Jabodetabek would participate in this May Day action.
"After that, at 12.30 a.m., the action of 50 thousand workers will move from the Palace to Istora Senayan to celebrate May Day Fiesta," Said Iqbal said in an official statement, Friday, April 26.
Said Iqbal said the two main issues that would be drawn up in this action. First, revoke the Omnibus Law on Job Creation. The second is the HOSTUM or Remove Outsourcing and Reject Cheap Wages.
"For May Day Fiesta, it will be held at Istora Senayan and filled with speeches. Among them are the national oration of the President of the Labor Party and the oration of the trade union leadership," he said.
