Meghan Markle Talks About Concerns About The British Empire About Her Son's Skin Color
JAKARTA - Meghan Markle, wife of Prince Harry, said there were concerns about how dark her son Archie's skin was before he was born. And, such worry explains why he was not given the title of prince.
Meghan, whose mother is black and whose father is white, said she was naive before marrying into the royal family in 2018. In fact, she had suicidal thoughts and considered self-harm, after asking for help but getting nothing.
"They don't want her to be a prince or a princess, not knowing what gender, which would be different from protocol, and that she wouldn't accept security," said Meghan Markle in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on CBS on Sunday evening.
"In the months when I was pregnant, around the same time, so we had conversations together, you wouldn't be given security, wouldn't be given titles' and also worries and conversations about how dark her skin was, maybe when she was born," said Meghan .
Meghan refused to say who told him this. When asked whether he chose to remain silent or because he was silenced, the answer was brief.
"The last one," he said.
On the occasion, Meghan revealed that the people within the royal institution not only failed to protect her from evil claims. But also lies to protect others.
"It was only after we got married and things started to get worse that I came to understand that I was not only protected, but they were also willing to lie to protect other family members," he explained.
"There are families, and then there are people who run institutions, those are two separate things and it is important to be able to separate them, because the Queen (Queen Elizabeth), for example, has always been nice to me," continued Meghan.
Meghan said she was naive before her wedding and didn't realize what she was getting into marrying when she joined the British Royal family.
"I would say I did it naively, because I didn't know much about the royal family," he said.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stepped down from royal duties. They decided to start a new life in the United States.
