Not Yet Determined Position, PKS Admits Experienced 10 Years Of Jokowi's Government Opposition
JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) claims to have experience as an opposition during the Joko Widodo (Jokowi) administration.
This was conveyed by the chairman of the PKS faction, Jazuli Juwaini, regarding the discourse of PKS being the opposition to the government of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Meanwhile, in the SBY government, PKS is part of the coalition.
"PKS has 10 years of experience entering the coalition during Pak SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) and 10 years of being the opposition during Pak Jokowi's time. So there is no problem with the opposition, the coalition is ready, we will see the dynamics," Jazuli said in a statement received in Jakarta, Monday, April 29.
The member of Commission I of the DPR said that the choice to become a coalition or opposition after the presidential election was only a technical issue.
PKS, according to Jazuli, has never restricted itself after the 2024 presidential election was held. On the other hand, it consistently encourages cooperation with all components of the nation and political power to realize the national goals of the state.
"We have never limited ourselves to working with anyone because it is impossible to build a nation and a country without cooperation. The competition during the election, we offer ideas, we argue ideas. After the election, the competition is over, and we return to one goal, namely to build the nation," he said.
Jazuli said that the official stance of PKS to become a coalition or opposition would be determined by the deliberation of the Shura Council and the Central Level Leadership Council (DPTP).
"What is certain is that decisions regarding coalitions or opposition in PKS are not personal tastes, but decisions from the deliberation of the Shura Council and DPTP, and are dynamic in accordance with the welfare and interests of the people," he said.
However, Jazuli was still reluctant to reveal the timing of the Shura Council and DPTP deliberation, so he asked the public to wait for the announcement of the PKS' official stance.
"When is the time? Just wait for the inauguration of the president and vice president it is still October. In time PKS will announce its positioning," he said.

Jazuli also emphasized that PKS' communication with other political parties to cooperate in the executive and legislative branches went smoothly, including with the elected president Prabowo Subianto.
"Including Pak Prabowo as president-elect, PKS relations are fine and have been well established for a long time. PKS leaders are used to keeping in touch," said the PKS leadership.
