Meeting Luhut, Minister Basuki Discusses Preparations For The 10th World Water Forum
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono ensured that Indonesia was ready to host the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) international forum in Bali in May.
Basuki said, in order to make the event a success which was held on May 18-25, 2024, he admitted that he had met the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan as Chair of the 10th WWF Organizing National Committee in Indonesia.
"Earlier, a meeting was held at the Coordinating Minister to discuss the preparations. Later, May 10, 2024, there will also be a meeting here (Ministry of PUPR)," he said at the PUPR Ministry office, Jakarta, Friday, April 26.
He explained that his meeting with Luhut discussed preparations for the implementation, starting from the opening ceremony to the level of security.
"So in our opinion, we are ready to carry out the forum. Both for the commitment and for the forum," he added.
The 10th World Water Forum focuses on four things, namely water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disaster.
A total of 244 sessions in the forum are expected to provide concrete results regarding the mainstreaming of integrated water management for small islands or Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) on Small Islands, the establishment of the center of excellence or the best practice for water and climate security or the Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience (COE) and the determination of World Lake Day.
The Indonesian government invited 43 ambassadors and 4 international organizations to participate and succeed in the 10th World Water Forum which will be held in Bali on 18-25 May 2024.
