Palace: Jokowi Supports Prabowo's Political Steps To Embrace All Parties

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo supports the initiative of the presidential-vice presidential candidate pair elected in the 2024 presidential election Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka to embrace all components of the nation in realizing an Advanced Indonesia.

Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana conveyed this in response to the meeting between Prabowo-Gibran and President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 24 evening.

"President Jokowi supports the initiative and steps (candidates) of the elected president and vice president to embrace all components of the nation in a joint effort to realize an Advanced Indonesia," said Ari Dwipayana via text message in Jakarta, Thursday, April 25.

He said that currently national unity is needed, especially in dealing with the impact of the volatile global economic and political situation.

Ari revealed that Prabowo-Gibran's meeting with President Jokowi on Prabowo and Gibran's initiative and application in order to convey directly the results of the determination of the two as presidential and vice presidential candidates elected by the General Election Commission after the decision of the Constitutional Court.

"The president congratulated and reaffirmed the government's full support to ensure the government's transition process in October 2024 runs well and smoothly," he explained.

Ari said that President Jokowi hopes that the new government led by the presidential and vice presidential candidates of the Republic of Indonesia can be directly elected to work after being sworn in on October 20, 2024.
