KP Trenggono's Export Banning Policy Is Considered As An Investment Law

JAKARTA - The move by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono to ban the export of fries or lobster seeds is considered appropriate. This is because the policy is considered to attract foreign investment.

The Vietnamese government is reportedly opening up opportunities for cooperation with Indonesia regarding lobster cultivation. Director of IndoStrategi Research and Consulting, Arif Nurul Iman, said the invitation to cooperate was because the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) had a bargaining power.

"If then the Vietnamese government will cooperate on lobster cultivation and technology transfer, of course this could be due to the impact of Minister Trenggono's political policy banning the export of lobster seeds," said Arif in a written statement, Saturday, March 6.

On the other hand, the Executive Director of the Center for Maritime Studies for Humanity, Abdul Halim, said that the policy must continue. Minister Trenggono was asked not only to make policies, but also to facilitate development.

"Facilitating the development of domestic lobster hatchery and enlargement businesses," said Abdul.

According to Abdul, KKP must focus on overseeing policies and facilitating capital. Because, this determines whether or not the cooperation between Indonesia and Vietnam is good.

"Actually, Vietnam and Indonesia have equal opportunities to develop in the field of lobster cultivation. The difference is that Vietnam is more systematic in how it works, Indonesia is still sporadic," said Abdul.

Previously, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono stated his commitment to stop the export of lobster seeds and to develop lobster cultivation in the country.

In this regard, the online portal in Vietnam, Baochinhphu, on Monday, March 1 reported that Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested that Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study and gather information about possible cooperation. with Indonesia in the field of cultivation, especially lobster technology cultivation.

The Vietnamese government supports Indonesia's move to promote responsible fishing management and combat unreported and unregulated (IUU) illegal fishing.
