OJK And 169 Financial Industry Donate IDR 4.2 Billion For Handling COVID-19 And Disasters
JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has collaborated with 169 Financial Service Industry's (IJK) since the beginning of this year to raise humanitarian funds to help deal with COVID-19 and natural disasters that have occurred in several regions since the beginning of this year.
Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Wimboh Santoso said that this effort is expected to ease the burden on people affected by disasters and pandemics.
"Hopefully this synergy can strengthen our efforts to build the country", he said in a press statement, Saturday, March 6.
Wimboh and Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X handed over the assistance witnessed by representatives of the financial services industry in Yogyakarta.
Meanwhile, aid for earthquake victims in Mamuju was handed over to the Governor of West Sulawesi Andi Ali Baal Masdar virtually.
Meanwhile, the distribution of aid for the first phase of IDR 2.17 billion consisted of donations for earthquake victims in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, IDR 1.75 billion, construction of a Covid shelter in Bantul, Yogyakarta, IDR 150 million, flood assistance in Semarang IDR 100 million, landslides in Sumedang IDR 100 million and repair of the Citarum river embankment IDR 75 million.
Then, the handover of donations for the Landslide disaster in Sumedang and the Citarum River embankment will be carried out on March 13, 2021, in Bandung, in collaboration with Jabar Bergerak.
"The OJK and IJK Disaster Care programs will continue to be opened to collect donations", he said.
For information, in 2020 the OJK and IJK humanitarian programs have also assisted earthquakes in West Nusa Tenggara and Palu.
In May 2020, the OJK Employee Association (IPOJK) was also recorded as assisting worth IDR 15 billion to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), which originated from deductions in monthly salaries for OJK employees and deductions for holiday allowances (THR).
