Minister Of Transportation Says Panua Pohuwato Airport Will Strengthen The Gorontalo Economy
Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said Panua Airport in Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province would strengthen the economic cycle in the area.
"Panua Pohuwato Airport is the government's commitment to mitigating disaster-prone areas and also as a gateway to developing the economy in Pohuwato Regency and Gorontalo Province," Budi said quoting Antara.
Budi said that Pahua Pohuwato Airport is the 25th airport out of 27 airports that have been built according to the President's direction to build airports in all corners of the country.
"The Pahua Pohuwato Airport is very productive to build the regional economy considering the range of Gorontalo is more than 4 hours of land routes," said Budi.
Panua Pohuwato Airport has a runway of 1,200 m x 30 m, a taxiway of 15 m x 170 m, an apron of 110 m x 70 m, and a terminal building of 990 m2. That way, Panua Pohuwato Airport can accommodate ATR 72-600 aircraft.
He explained that the concept of the airport terminal design was taken from the form of four traditional houses in Gorontalo Province, namely Dulohupa Traditional House, Bantayo Poboide Traditional House, Gobel Traditional House, and Ma'lihe Traditional House or Potiwaluya.
The shape of the terminal roof is adopted from the roof of a traditional house in Gorontalo Province which is graded so that it gives a magnificent and luxurious impression. The partition of the terminal area is also made functorial and aesthetic, then combined with a modern concept without eliminating the appearance of exotic local wisdom.

"The design gives a meaning like a warm traditional house and a comfortable gathering place," said Budi.
Then, airport terminal designs are dominated by coral and brown white. This is inspired by the natural wealth of Pohuwato Regency.
"Panu Pohuwato Airport is surrounded by very beautiful diving attractions and has not been touched by many humans, one of which is the white coral layer on Lahe Island and Karang Island," said Budi.
Budi hopes that the existence of Panua Pohuwato Airport can provide wider availability of transportation facilities, encourage multiplier effects in economic growth on the island of Sulawesi.
"As well as expanding tourism trade and as support for disaster-prone areas," added Budi.
