Surya Paloh: Election Questionnaire Rights Are No Longer Relevant After The Constitutional Court's Decision

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Democratic Party (Nasdem) Surya Paloh stated that the issue of the issuance of the 2024 General Election Questionnaire which was voiced by several factions was no longer relevant after the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).

The Constitutional Court's decision on Monday rejected all requests for dispute over the results of the general election (PHPU) proposed by the presidential and vice presidential candidate Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, as well as the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair.

This was revealed by Surya Paloh in response to the Constitutional Court's decision when holding a press conference at Nasdem Tower Jakarta, Monday night. "The right of inquiry is no longer up to date for today's conditions, according to Nasdem," said Surya Paloh.

He added that Nasdem continued to follow these developments so that he stated that the essence of rolling out the right to inquiry was far from the expectations desired by the people.

"My essence is that (the right of inquiry) is far from the people. However, that does not mean that we are blocking efforts to continue it may perhaps be a struggle to achieve justice, but Nasdem stated that the time frame was not right," he said.

Surya Paloh also emphasized that Nasdem respects and accepts the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the dispute over the results of the 2024 presidential election.

"Today the Constitutional Court has decided to reject the entire lawsuit, what is our attitude? I think for Nasdem this is a final and binding decision for all legal procedures that we have in this country," he said.

Previously, the issue of the issuance of the DPR's right to inquiry was to investigate fraud in the 2024 General Election. The issue was first rolled out by the presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo and was voiced by several members of the supporting faction of the presidential candidate number 1, PKB and PKS at the DPR plenary meeting. However, until now, not a single member of the DPR has officially submitted the proposal for the right of inquiry in the DPR.
